Amazon Prime Video has two top-class titles at the start today. A series with Christoph Waltz is brand new and exclusive to the streaming service, the star-studded film “Die Hart” was previously a series…
We introduce you to the two titles that are available today – including alongside also a new episode of “Carnival Row” – new and now even exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
“THE CONSULTANT”: CHRISTOPH WALTZ ONCE AGAIN AS A CREEP
In “The Consultant” Christoph Waltz plays the management consultant Regus Patoff. As friendly as he seems at first glance, you shouldn’t be too happy when he shows up at your own company. This is what the employees of an IT company around Craig (Nat Wolff) have to experience when their boss suddenly disappears and Patoff shows up at their door one day. Although he has no idea about the mobile games that are being programmed here, he quickly seizes control of the company. Soon there are the first dismissals and even in the evening Craig and Co. are not safe from him. And soon the horror really starts…
“The Consultant” consists of eight episodes of just over 30 minutes each. All episodes are available now on Amazon Prime Video.
“THE HART”: KEVIN HART WANTS TO BECOME AN ACTION STAR
In the comedy “Die Hart”, US comedian Kevin Hart plays himself. He’s had enough of his action films always having to be funny too. He finally wants to be a really serious and big action star. The dream seems to come true when legendary director Claude Van De Velde (Jean Reno) wants to give him the lead role in his new film. But to do so, Hart has to go to the school of action coach Ron Wilcox (John Travolta), who, however, turns out to be quite loopy because he is convinced that film action should be completely real. But fellow actors Jordan King (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Josh Hartnett (playing himself) help Kevin Hart survive the ordeal…
By the way, the action comedy alluding in its title to “Die Hard” (original: Die Hard) was originally a series on the short-lived, quickly discontinued streaming service Quibi in 2020. The fact that a film version is now appearing on Amazon is due to the special orientation of Quibi. They wanted to make series explicitly for watching on mobile phones – which meant that they actually produced films around 90 minutes long, which they then broke down into around ten-minute series episodes. Amazon now simply reassembles these episodes so that they really make a film. This is what they did with “Most Dangerous Game” – by the way, with a nasty Christoph Waltz in the leading role, which actually closes the circle in this article here.
