The Peacock

The Peacock: German comedy based on the book of the same name by Isabel Bogdan, in which a group of investment bankers cause chaos during a seminar trip to a Scottish country estate.

Plot and background

Investment banker Linda Bachmann (Lavinia Wilson) travels with her team to the Scottish country estate of Lord (Philip Jackson) and Lady McIntosh (Victoria Carling). The whole thing was originally planned as a team-building exercise and instructive seminar, but listless faces and tense dynamics between the group members are already apparent on arrival. In addition to the poor annual balance sheet, the rumour that a compliance officer is soon to restructure the team hangs threateningly over the heads of the staff. And the run-down Scottish estate is hardly inviting, despite the skills of Helen (Annette Frier), the cook brought along especially for the occasion. The methods of the young seminar leader Rebecca (Svenja Jung) also seem questionable and not very effective to the team members. Things get really chaotic, however, when the Lord’s favourite peacock and Lady McIntosh’s favourite goose suddenly disappear without a trace and a dense snowstorm is heading for the country estate.
