Knights of the Zodiac : Live-action anime adaptation about street orphan Seiya, who must become a Knight of the Zodiac to save the Goddess of War and the fate of all mankind.
Plot and background
The headstrong teenager Seiya (Mackenyu) is an orphan and calls the streets his home. He earns his money by fighting while searching for his kidnapped sister. When Seiya unintentionally unleashes magical powers he didn’t know he possessed during one of his fights, a new world opens up to the boy where saints war, ancient magic is trained, and a goddess reborn as a young girl (Madison Iseman) needs his protection. To survive, Seiya must embrace his destiny and face his past to take his rightful place among the warriors of the Zodiac.

Based on the international anime sensation, “The Warriors of the Zodiac” is the first live-action film adaptation of the Saint Seiya saga to hit the big screen. Polish director Tomek Baginski brings the action-fantasy adventure to theaters from a script by Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken and Kiel Murray, based on the Saint Seiya manga by Masami Kurumada.
Japanese actor Mackenyu was in front of the camera as Seiya the Pegasus Knight. In addition to the anime adaptation “Warriors of the Zodiac”, he will also be seen in the American Netflix live-action series adaptation of “One Piece”. Also part of the international cast are Famke Janssen (“X-Men”) as Guraad, Madison Iseman (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”) as Sienna, the reincarnation of the goddess Athena, Diego Tinoco (“On My Block”), Mark Dacascos (“Hawaii Five-0”), Nick Stahl (“Terminator 3 – Rebellion of the Machines”) and Sean Bean(“The Lord of the Rings”).
The German theatrical release date for the action-packed anime adaptation is May 16, 2023.
