“Citadel” season 1 is over, but the series universe on Prime Video.

After the first season of “Citadel”, you can watch the trailer for the next series in the agent franchise: “Citadel: Diana” on Amazon Prime Video. You can also look forward to “Citadel” Season 2 as well as spin-offs from India, Spain & Mexico.

“Citadel” Season 1 is over, but the planned series universe on Amazon Prime Video has only just begun. On 25 May 2023, a second season of the agent series was officially confirmed, after new episodes were actually commissioned even before the premiere. And that’s not all – as all “Citadel” fans who watched the sixth and last episode of season 1 to the end will have noticed.

“CITADEL: DIANA” COMING IN 2024

From the final shot of Richard Madden’s face, after a brief fade to black, we continue directly with a shot of Matilda De Angelis. The Italian actress will take on the leading role in “Citadel: Diana”, the first of several planned series spin-offs in the “Citadel” universe. As the trailer reveals and Amazon also confirmed in a press release, “Citadel: Diana” will then be launched on Prime Video in 2024. However, there is no exact date yet.

Showrunner and producer of the Italian “Citadel” spin-off is Gina Gardini. The director is Arnaldo Catinari (“Subbura – The Series”), the series was developed by Alessandro Fabbri, who is also the main writer and wrote the individual episodes of the series together with Ilaria Bernardini, Laura Colella, Gianluca Bernardini and Giordana Mari. In any case, the trailer already looks quite promising and definitely stands out from the parent series with stylish, handmade and altogether less artificial-looking images.

ALSO “CITADEL: INDIA” IN THE WORKS

In addition, work on an Indian “Citadel” series is also quite advanced. This spin-off will be directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., who have already created the series “The Family Man” and “Farzi” for Amazon Prime Video. The Indian stars Varun Dhawan (“Badlapur”) and Samantha Prabhu (“Yashoda”) will be seen in front of the camera.

When the Indian “Citadel” will appear on Amazon Prime Video has not yet been announced and will certainly depend on how quickly the second season of the main series is produced. However, a release in late 2024 or 2025 would be conceivable.

In addition, spin-offs from Spain and Mexico were originally announced, but nothing more has been heard about them since then. If the “Citadel” project continues to be successful enough, this should not be the end of the line by a long shot. For a global spy franchise like Amazon and the people responsible for “Avengers” directors Joe and Anthony Russo have in mind, a few more countries would be needed…
