From 26 May, the first season finale of “Citadel” will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and now a second season has been officially confirmed! In addition, Joe Russo will be directing all episodes of the second season.

For quite some time, a second season of “Citadel”, the second most expensive Amazon Prime Video series ever, was considered very likely. Already a month before the first episodes aired, it was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that the series would continue. However, there has been no official confirmation from Amazon Prime Video – until now! Now the streaming giant has also officially announced that the Russo brothers’ spy thriller series will get a second season.

So it seems that the joint and rather leaden journey of Richard Madden (“Game Of Thrones”) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (“Matrix Resurrections”) is not over yet. It was also announced that in season 2 “Avengers: Endgame” maker Joe Russo will be in the director’s chair for all episodes. The big-budget action expert, who is also producing the series together with his brother Anthony Russo, thus succeeds Newton Thomas Sigel (“Dr. House”), who had been directing the episodes of the first season.

Tomorrow, i.e. on 26 May 2023, fans of the spy series can also look forward to another real banger, because from then on the finale of the first season “Citadel” can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video:

WHAT “CITADEL” IS ABOUT

It has now been eight years since the global espionage agency Citadel was broken up into its component parts. Responsible for this: agents of the powerful syndicate Manticore, which controls the fate of the world from behind the scenes. But some of Citadel’s elite spies managed to escape with great difficulty – even though their memories were wiped out shortly afterwards. So were Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas).

Since this incident, they have adopted new identities and built new lives for themselves, unaware of their own past as an elite spy unit. But when former Citadel colleague Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci) shows up at Mason’s house one night, the memories come flooding back. Orlick needs the help of Mason and his partner Nadia to stop Manticore from establishing a new world order. The spy duo embarks on a mission that takes them once around the globe…
