August has it all on Amazon Prime Video. Among others, the “Dark Knight” trilogy, Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi adventure “Moonfall”, “House Of Gucci”, “Angel Has Fallen” and many, many more hits will land on the streaming platform.
Before the turn of the month, Amazon has announced at the last minute which new films and series Prime subscribers can expect on the in-house streaming platform in August 2023. And what can we say? The line-up is truly impressive.
A colourful mix of classics and cult hits – such as “The Dark Knight” trilogy (from 12 August) – and more recent productions such as Roland Emmerich’s latest sci-fi hit “Moonfall” (from 9 August) or “The Batman” (from 19 August) with Robert Pattinson will be on offer.
This means that the range will be expanded next month with a whole series of blockbuster highlights that most people will have already seen – but which are also always very entertaining. At the same time, there are numerous opportunities to catch up on films and insider tips from the recent past at no extra cost. Among them are Sarah Polley’s “The Debate” or Niki Caro’s “Cold Land”.
In addition to “Moonfall”, which went down mercilessly at the box office, the acclaimed coming-of-age drama “Come On, Come” (from 1 August) with “Joker” star Joaquin Phoenix is also worth a look, as is the fabulous “Shining” sequel “Doctor Sleep’s Awakening” as well as Ridley Scott’s “House Of Gucci”, which was nominated at both the Oscars and the Golden Raspberry in 2022. In addition to numerous other sci-fi, superhero and horror films as well as comedies and thrillers, series fans are of course also catered for:
Among others, “Croods: Family Tree” (from 21 August), the sequel to the popular “Crood” films, and “Takeshi’s Castle” (from 4 August), the new edition of the legendary game show format with Takeshi Kitano, will be launched.
In addition, Amazon has many other highlights in store for August, such as numerous films from the past few months that will first be released as a VOD purchase and then available for rental shortly afterwards: including “Tár”, “Sun and Concrete” and “Pearl” (all 3/17 August), “Beau Is Afraid” (11 August), “John Wick: Chapter 4” (24 August/14 September), “Manta, Manta – Part Two” (31 August/7 September).
In addition, the range of content that you can stream on Amazon completely free of charge – even without a Prime subscription – will be expanded. The series “Spartacus” (seasons 1-3) and “Black Sails” (seasons 1-4) as well as the thriller highlight “A Beautiful Day” and Stefan Ruzowitzky’s experimental, visually original “Hinterland” will be available on the free, ad-financed platform Amazon Freevee.
