It will be years before John Wick 5 with Keanu Reeves arrives. In the meantime, The Continental, the prequel to the action series, is launching. Here’s the new trailer.

Cool gangsters, sleek suits and a shootout or two in the night: that’s how the series three-parter The Continental: From the World of John Wick is supposed to get that hitman feeling without Keanu Reeves. Find out if it succeeds in the new trailer released today.

Check out the new trailer for The Continental here:

The Continental is set in the 1970s

The official plot description of the series is as follows:

“Told from the perspective of the hotel manager, a young Winston Scott (Colin Woodell) is dragged through 1975 New York City to confront a past he thought he had left behind. In an attempt to seize control of the iconic hotel that serves as a meeting place for the planet’s most dangerous criminals, Winston blazes a deadly trail through New York’s mysterious underworld. “

Colin Woodell takes over the role played by Ian McShane in the four John Wick films, while Ayomide Adegun portrays the younger Charon (Lance Reddick in the films). Mel Gibson gives the gangster boss Cormac, who manages the New York Continental.

When is The Continental coming and where can you stream the series then?

The Continental is scheduled to join the Amazon Prime Video catalog in Germany in September.

The series consists of three episodes. Acting as director for the first and third episodes is Albert Hughes, who with his brother Allen directed the Johnny Depp film From Hell and Denzel Washington’s end-times adventure Book of Eli. The second installment is directed by Charlotte Brändström, who most recently directed The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

It will be followed next year by the theatrical spin-off Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas. We are still waiting for an official announcement of John Wick: Chapter 5. Director Chad Stahelski, however, expressed openness to continuing his collaboration with Keanu Reeves.
