Competition for “The Rings of Power” new on Amazon Prime Video: This

by Han

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is the fantasy flagship on Prime Video, if only because of its massive budget. That’s why “The Wheel of Time” has almost been forgotten a bit. Now the second season has started…

In the fall of 2022, “The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power” and the “Game Of Thrones” prequel “House Of The Dragon” were released almost in parallel, which is why much was written about a duel between the two fantasy series – a duel from which “The Rings Of Power” emerged as the loser, both in terms of audience interest and fan and trade press reactions. And now “The Lord of the Rings” series is even getting some serious competition from within its own ranks:

So even if “The Wheel of Time” will never match “The Rings of Power” in terms of budget and visual power, the series makes up some ground in terms of content and direction – in short, if you have a soft spot for fantasy but haven’t checked out Season 1 yet, you should risk a look now at the latest.

THE PLOT OF “THE WHEEL OF TIME” SEASON 2

Some time after the supposed victory over the Dark King (Fares Fares), Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and her group have scattered to the winds. While Rand (Josha Stradowksi) is presumed dead, Moiraine and her guardian Lan (Daniel Henney) have retreated, the Aes Sedai having finally lost her magical powers.

Meanwhile, Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) and Loial (Hammed Animashaun), along with some soldiers, hunt for the Horn of Valere, and Nynaeve (Zoe Robins) and Egwene (Madeleine Madden) have been accepted as novices in the White Castle of the Aes Sedai, where Mat (Dónal Finn) is also held captive. But there evil stirs again…
