New on Amazon Prime Video: One of the greatest cult series of all time

With a licence to binge-watch: From “Dr. No” to “Spectre”, Amazon Prime Video brings you back the ultimate cult spy in film history. 22 films in the “James Bond” series are now available on the streaming service.

The “James Bond” fans among Amazon Prime Video subscribers had to be very strong at the weekend – because the latest entry in the series, “No Time to Die”, was banned from the streaming service after only a few months. But when one door closes, a new one opens – and behind it lurks almost the entire remaining filmography of the British cult spy.

As of now, 22 of 25 films from the “James Bond” series are available for streaming at no extra cost for Prime customers on Prime Video. This not only gives die-hard fans the chance to see their favourite spy in (almost) all his adventures, versions and facets, but also offers new action enthusiasts the chance to delve deep into the history and beginnings of the cult character.

In 1962, “007 Chases Dr. No” kicked off the big screen run of James Bond, the character conceived in the novels by Ian Fleming, and made the secret agent in Her Majesty’s name a megastar overnight. So it is no wonder that after this success, further films were not long in coming. Nevertheless, no one would have expected that the action series would one day become the longest-lived cinema franchise in film history and that the discourse around James Bond and his actors would still be of burning interest to the film world more than 60 years later.

“JAMES BOND” IS STILL AN ABSOLUTE ACTION CULT WITH 25 FILMS AND 6 ACTORS

Since 1962, six different actors have taken on the role of the secret agent within the official series produced by EON. Sean Connery was initially replaced by George Lazenby after five films, before Connery returned to the franchise for a final film, Diamond Fever, in 1971.

Roger Moore then took over, portraying Bond in seven productions over a twelve-year period from 1973 to 1985. Timothy Dalton had licence to kill for just two films before Pierce Brosnan took over for four films over several years. Most recently we could see Daniel Craig in the role of the action hero, who hung up his Bond career after five films in 15 years.

THESE BOND MOVIES ARE MISSING FROM AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Which Bond is the best regularly divides opinions and the question of who we will next see in the role of the cult figure is still unanswered to date. So it’s high time to get involved in the debate and compare all the actors in their most famous roles, for which Amazon Prime Video now offers the perfect opportunity. Even if the fan favourites “Goldfinger” and “Live and Let Die” are missing from the Prime subscription collection alongside “No Time to Die”, there are some gems among the “Bond” films that will make every action heart beat faster.

Among them is “Casino Royale” with Daniel Craig, which is the second best “Bond” film of all time in the FILMSTARTS user ranking with 4.238 out of 5 stars. A highlight from the Roger Moore series is “The Spy Who Loved Me”, which is in 4th place in the ranking with a rating of 4.045 out of 5 stars. But see for yourself which “Bond” you definitely shouldn’t miss.
