“After Everything” brings the complicated love story between Hardin and Tessa to a close. Hardin’s former flame Natalie, whose actress Mimi Keene previously starred in a popular Netflix series, also plays a major role in the story.
“After Everything” forms the grand finale of the “After” series and thus finally answers the question of whether bad boy Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) and his great love Tessa (Josephine Langford) will finally get their happy ending together after all the ups and downs of their relationship. However, Tessa herself hardly appears in the new “After Passion” sequel.
Instead, Hardin goes to Portugal alone after breaking up with her, where he wants to reconcile with a certain Natalie, whom he had treated badly a few years before – which should ultimately help him overcome his writer’s block, look ahead and thus, in the best case scenario, make a future with Tessa possible after all.
Although Tessa thus plays a continuous role in the background, “After” newcomer Natalie is the actual female protagonist of “After Everything” in terms of screentime. She is played by 25-year-old British actress Mimi Keene, who will be familiar to fans of successful Netflix series…
FROM “SEX EDUCATION” TO “AFTER EVERYTHING “
Mimi Keene has been an actress on stage and in front of the camera since she was a child and teenager. Her first major role was as Cindy Williams in 123 episodes of the cult British soap “EastEnders” from 2013 to 2015. In 2019, she also played the younger version of Edith Bratt, later wife of the titular “Lord of the Rings” author, in the J.R.R. Tolkien biopic “Tolkien”.
In the same year, Mimi Keene played her best-known role to date: that of the popular schoolgirl Ruby Matthews in the popular Netflix hit “Sex Education”, where she was part of the regular ensemble and appeared in the majority of the episodes. She was again prominently featured in the fourth and final season, which was only released on 21 September 2023. After a change of school, Ruby is suddenly no longer one of the hot students and ultimately helps main character Otis (Asa Butterfield) to outdo a rival sex therapist for a possible popularity boost.

Just two weeks after her last appearance as Ruby, Mimi Keene as Natalie in “After Everything” is now a major part of another major franchise – albeit not on Netflix, but on competitor Amazon Prime Video, where the “After” finale was recently released direct in this country (while the four prequels were all in theatres). So Mimi Keene fans have been getting a lot of new material from the young star in the past few weeks. What’s next on her film or series agenda, however, is not known.
