The Walking Dead returns to the most gruesome location of the zombie apocalypse – but one mistake is a huge pain in the ass

The zombie spin-off Fear the Walking Dead takes us back to an iconic location from the original just before the series finale. But one thing is really annoying

In just two weeks, the second biggest The Walking Dead serieson Amazon Prime Video* will be saying goodbye:Fear the Walking Deadends after eight seasons and 113 episodes. Ahead of the finale, the series spin-off now returns to one of the worst places in the zombie universe – and squanders the chance for a real crossover withThe Walking Dead.

Attention, spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead:

Fear the Walking Dead season 8 pays a visit to the Sanctuary

Aftersaying goodbye to Morgan JonesDwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista) are the last remaining crossover characters on Fear the Walking Dead. In episode 9 of the eighth season, they must now face the biggest trauma that has plagued them for many yearsIt”s back to the Sanctuaryfor the couple, where they once suffered under the rule of Savior leader Negan

The nostalgic return to the Saviors” former lair unfortunately highlights a major problem with season 8. With multiple characters able to travel to the Sanctuary in just one episode, it seemsthis important The Walking Dead location is not far awayfrom the locations surrounding the conflict between Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and Troy Otto (Daniel Sharman). And that means Alexandria is not far away either.

Fear the Walking Dead kept a long distance from its parent series for a long time. California, Mexico and later Texas were far removed from the events surrounding Rick Grimes and his allies. However, this changed with season 8, which is now set on the east coast of the USA and has already surprised viewers twice with the return to an iconic location from The Walking Dead.

The reunion with the Sanctuary makes it clear that we must bein close proximity to Alexandria, one of the most important locations from The Walking Dead. A collision between the narrative worlds of the parent series and the spin-off has never been so close at hand. But Fear the Walking Dead doesn”t seem to be interested in this at all, opening up a gaping plot hole.

Fear the Walking Dead forgets that Alexandria exists

Shortly before the finale, the community of PADRE faces a devastating attack by thevillain Troy Otto, who has returned from the dead. The characters are desperate for help to protect PADRE and the children living there.

Thanks to Morgan Jones, most of the characters from the spin-off know about the existence of the Alexandra Safe Zone.So why wouldn”t anyone venture there and ask for help?Of course, Dwight may not be the most welcome guest in Alexandria. However, almost 10 years have passed since he was banished by Daryl.

Unfortunately, the last word has not yet been spoken. Perhaps Fear the Walking Dead is saving the big crossover surprise for the series finale. One possibility: a few episodes earlier, Morgan Jones (Lennie James) said goodbye to the series to return to Alexandria and seek out Rick Grimes. In the finale, he could turn up with his former allies as a last-minute savior to save PADRE from destruction.
