The start of Stranger Things season 5 is unfortunately still a long way off. The series finale was in the starting blocks, then came the double strike. The overview with all the info
The 4th season of Stranger Things aired on Netflix last year. But the mystery series has not yet come to an end. Netflix has long since confirmed a 5th season of Stranger Things. This will be the finale of the main story.
Filming for season 5 is set to finally begin soon. We have compiled three more important pieces of information for you. Here is our spoiler-free preview of the series’ grand finale and the current status at the start
When does Stranger Things season 5 start on Netflix?
Stranger Things season 5 will start in the second half of 2024 at the earliest – that’s the best possible estimate. This is because the double strike in Hollywood, which has now ended, has delayed production enormously. Work on Stranger Things season 5 has been halted. Now Stranger Things season 5 enjoys top priority at Netflx.
The showrunner brothers Matt and Ross Duffer said about the status of the story in season 5: “We’ve worked out quite a lot”. However, time brings an organizational problem. The only solution is .
Stranger Things season 5 will take place after a time jump
The Stranger Things cast around Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) ages faster than the characters, which is particularly noticeable in puberty, which some of the actors have already overcome. Since CGI rejuvenation, as seen in It 2 or The Irishman, is out of the question, there is only one way out: a time jump that incorporates the visual change into the plot, as seen in Riverdale. The showrunners have already confirmed that this will happen .
I’m sure we will do a time jump. Ideally, we would have shot [seasons 4 and 5] back-to-back, but there was just no practical way to do that.
How big the jump will be, however, is not yet certain. At least two years seems appropriate

Is Eddie Munson coming back?
Eddie, played by Joseph Quinn, became a fan favorite in season 4. Even the creators probably didn’t expect the extent of his popularity. Eddie died tragically in the finale. Since then, there have been calls for his return and fan theories spun to make this possible. After all, the series only brought Hopper back in season 4, even though he seemed to be dead. Gradually, however, fans are having to come to terms with Eddie’s death, and the writers’ decision seems to have been made. Eddie will probably stay dead
Stranger Things 5 is the final season, but there will be spin-offs afterwards
Again, we don’t know the details yet, but it’s not surprising that Netflix will continue to mine the Stranger Things goldmine. The Duffer brothers have already worked out a spin-off idea that they want to present to their employer Netflix in the near future. The concept is “unexpected” and “different” and will surprise everyone. Except for Mike actor Finn Wolfhard, who somehow managed to guess the idea. We can be curious! In the meantime, Netflix has officially confirmed that a Stranger Things spin-off is coming.
No weekly broadcast: Stranger Things in season 5 remains a binge series
Season 4 of Stranger Things was rolled out in 2 parts. This strategy fueled the rumor mill that Netflix could move even further away from the traditional binge model in the future and even air Stranger Things 5 with weekly episodes. Disney+, HBO and Amazon have been very successful with this. But Netflix will not give away one of its most important unique selling points. Netflix’s head of scripted series and films, Peter Friedlander, ruled this out. He fears too much fan disappointment and is probably right.
So the future of Stranger Things remains exciting, even after the season finale of Season 4.
