The success of the MonsterVerse: The four blockbusters released in the space of just seven years grossed a remarkable 1.94 billion US dollars . Godzilla vs. Kong recently brought in a strong 468 million US dollars, even during the pandemic. Nevertheless, the cinema world is eagerly awaiting Godzilla vs. Kong 2, as the lavish series has yet to achieve a resounding success at the box office.

What is Godzilla vs. Kong 2 about?

Little is known about the movie’s plot, which is often secondary anyway. It is said to follow on closely from the story of its predecessor Godzilla vs. Kong, which is not at all a given in this series. We can already see the following clues in the trailer:

Kong lives again in the hollow earth that we explored in Godzilla vs. Kong.

There is also a “devilish Kong-like” villain hiding there. Describing the process to IGN, director Adam Wingard said: “We wanted to develop an antagonist that could take on both Kong and Godzilla and that’s really hard.” According to Wingard, there’s even more to the hairy character than you might expect.

This explains the name of the movie. While last time it was about the conflict between the movie titans, this time they have to team up. At the end of the trailer, the two massive giants run into battle together

Dan Stevens is back for the first time, but the sequel sees the return of Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle, among others. The two films also share the same director: Adam Wingard. This also illustrates the new continuity in the MonsterVerse.
