Leonardo DiCaprio’s next film is set: (almost) nothing stands in the way of Tarantino’s big farewell

What will Leonardo DiCaprio do after Killers of the Flower Moon? In an interview, the Oscar winner revealed plans for the future. Will Tarantino be in it?

Update, 13.12.: There’s a new hint that DiCaprio is also being considered for Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film. More on this below in the article

Some stars shoot one movie after another. But Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t need to do that. The Oscar winner occasionally lets years pass between acting projects. Since Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood from the distant year 2019, for example, he has only appeared in two films. After the end of the press tour for Killers of the Flower Moon, however, he already has his eye on the next project, as he now reveals

This is what DiCaprio has revealed about his new film

Leonardo DiCaprio was interviewed by industry publication Deadline together with Killers co-star Lily Gladstone. In the interview, he spoke about his future plans:

‘I have [a new project], but I don’t think I’m allowed to talk about it. I really want to, but I don’t think I’m allowed to. I would love to give you an exclusive, but I can’t.

The actor’s lips remain sealed, but what movies are actually being considered for the Killers of the Flower Moon sequel?

Is Leonardo DiCaprio part of Tarantino’s farewell movie?

First on the wish list of many Quentin Tarantino fans is probably The Movie Critic. DiCaprio has already worked with the writer-director in Django Unchained and One Upon a Time … have already worked with the writer-director. Why not also for the supposedly last film Tarantino wants to shoot in his career?

Based on the timing, The Movie Critic could be on the actor’s to-do list. In November, well-connected insider Daniel Richtman (via World of Reel ) reported that Leonardo DiCaprio had been offered a role in The Movie Critic. However, these were only rumors. Given the past of the two creatives, these are not exactly far-fetched. Now that the double strike of actors and writers in Hollywood is over, casting work is picking up speed again, with casting news for the new Tarantino film expected in the near future.

What other projects could intervene?

But the Tarantino-DiCaprio reunion is not a foregone conclusion. Next up could be a reunion of a different kind. Martin Scorsese is planning a film adaptation of The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder. According to initial statements, Scorsese wants to work with DiCaprio and the Apple TV+ streaming service again on the adaptation of the factual book by Killers of the Flower Moon author David Grann.

DiCaprio could work with Paul Thomas Anderson instead

If anything is currently standing in the way of DiCaprio’s involvement in The Movie Critic, it’s either the ship adventure or the new film from Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood): Vineland. In October, World of Reel reported, based on inside sources, that DiCaprio was “very much involved in [Vineland]”. This is a film adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel of the same name.

Vineland is currently listed in the pages of Production Weekly (via Twitter/X ) with Leonardo DiCaprio and a shooting start in February 2024. However, no official announcement has been made and Production Weekly’s information is not comparable to confirmation from one of the major industry sites such as Hollywood Reporter or Deadline.
