After George Lucas failed to produce the live-action series Star Wars: Underworld due to financial and logistical hurdles, no one believed for a long time that a live-action series in the franchise universe was possible. But then Jon Favreau produced The Mandalorian for Disney+ and impressed with the mostly self-contained episodes.
The series is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and two years before the official end of the Empire. In our ranking of the 15 best Star Wars series, The Mandalorian comes in at number 5.
