A fan Q&A with Snyder has been published on the social movie network Letterboxd. One question asked if the director cries every time he watches the one Man of Steel scene with Kevin Costner. Snyder replied:
All the Costner scenes bring tears to my eyes. I get pretty teary at: ‘You’re my son.’ Costner is just great in this movie.

In one particularly dramatic scene, a tornado approaches Jonathan, who prefers to be caught by it instead of being saved by Clark.
