James Bond wannabe Idris Elba will never get the 007 role. Instead, he will be seen in the 2nd season of a series that gives Die Hard a run for its money
No wonder many James Bond fans want Idris Elba to be the new 007. The star has sufficiently proven his action talents in films such as The Suicide Squad and The Losers. For various reasons, the role of the British spy is unlikely to come to fruition, but there is a more than adequate consolation: his thriller series Hijack is practically Die Hard in streaming format. And is now getting a second season

Hijack revolves around businessman Sam Nelson (Elba), whose seven-hour flight from Dubai to London is suddenly hijacked by terrorists. Before the attackers can misuse the plane for an attack, he goes on the attack.
Watch the trailer for Hijack season 1 here:
A man almost single-handedly takes on terrorists in a confined space, tries to rescue hostages and wrestles with the mistakes of police bureaucracy. It sounds a lot like Bruce Willis’ starring role in Die Hard, but the stream captivates with many ideas of its own.
The mix is apparently going down well with audiences, because according to Deadline, the streaming service Apple TV+ has ordered a second season of the thriller series. It is not yet known how Nelson’s story will continue in the new episodes.
When is Hijack season 2 coming to Apple TV+?
Season 2 of Hijack does not yet have a specific start date. If production starts soon, we could imagine a release in summer 2025. In any case, it will come sooner than a 007 appearance by Elba. The star definitely doesn’t want to become the James Bond after Daniel Craig
