Stranger Things is moving towards its 5th season. Dustin actor Gaten Matarazzo has an idea on how to make the finale of the Netflix series even more gripping
It’s been a long time coming, but filming for season 5 of Stranger Things has finally been underway since the beginning of the year. The project had to take a long break due to the double strike in Hollywood. Now the cast and crew are back on set, as a recent picture of lead actress Millie Bobby Brown with the Duffer brothers showed.
When the Stranger Things stars aren’t in front of the camera, delving into the depths of Hawkins and the Upside Down, they are chatting to fans at conventions. Take Gaten Matarazzo, for example, who was a guest at MegaCon Orlando a few days ago and chatted about the Netflix high-flyer
What Dustin actor Gaten Matarazzo would change in Stranger Things? “We should kill more people “
Since season 1 of Stranger Things, Matarazzo has played fan favorite Dustin Henderson, one of the show’s central child and now teenage characters. He has experienced everything there is to experience in Stranger Things. And there’s one thing he would definitely change, as geek site CBR reports from the MegaCon panel:
‘It might sound stupid, but we should kill more people. The show would be so much better if the stakes were much higher, so that any of these kids could die at any moment. I feel like we’re all too safe.
Matarazzo’s statement hits a recurring criticism of the series on the head. Even characters like Hopper (David Harbour) have returned to the world of Stranger Things after their supposed death scenes. Especially in view of the finale, Stranger Things could do with a bit more height.
At the same time, it is understandable that the creative minds behind the series find it difficult to part with their beloved characters. Over the course of the previous seasons, Eleven’s original circle of friends has been expanded to include many great characters.
