There’s great news for fans of the Predator series. The sci-fi horror franchise will continue after the success of Prey and the next film has already been confirmed.
Founded in 1987 with Predator, the sci-fi horror franchise was almost on the brink of collapse after Predator – Upgrade. But then came the unexpected rescue two years ago with the streaming film Prey. The standalone prequel delighted fans and critics alike. Now, two new Predator films are set to be released, taking completely different directions.
Predator 6 is coming: The sci-fi series goes into the future with Badlands
As reported by the Hollywood Reporter and others, 20th Century Studios has announced the development of the next Predator project. This is called Badlands and will once again be realized by the creative duo behind Prey: Dan Trachtenberg will direct, while Patrick Aison will contribute the screenplay.
There is no concrete information yet on the plot of the new Predator film. However, this time the setting will be in the future. And of course, the legendary extraterrestrial alien hunter will be back and set on new prey.

And that’s not all. Thanks to the success of Prey, the studio is planning further Predator projects. Dan Trachtenberg will be the driving force behind the scenes to expand the Predator universe.
According to Deadline, a sequel to Prey is also in development alongside Badlands. This could pick up on the story of the Commanche hunter Naru in the early 18th century. However, a return of lead actress Amber Midthunder has not yet been confirmed.

Badlands: When will the next film in the Predator series be released?
According to plans, Badlands is set to go into production this July. A specific release date has not been set, but we expect it to be released in 2025. It is also not yet known whether the new Predator film will be streamed again on Disney+ and Hulu or even appear on the big screen in cinemas.
