When is Berlin season 2 coming to Netflix? The new House of Money series is already facing a big problem

Netflix’s new House of Money series explores the backstory of master thief Berlin in Paris. But when will season 2 be released? What happens when Spanish passion meets the romantic scenery of Paris and 44 million euros worth of jewelry has to be stolen along the way? One answer is provided by the House of Money prequel Berlin, which has been streaming on Netflix since December 2023.

For eight episodes, we follow master thief Andrés de Fonollosa Gonzalves aka Berlin (Pedro Alonso) and his gang as they plan and execute their Paris heist – and then escape. Although the story seems complete, the Berlin series ends with a promise of a sequel.

But will Berlin get a 2nd season? When could it start on Netflix? And what does the end of season 1 reveal about what might happen next for Berlin and co. You can find all the important information here:

When will Berlin season 2 start on Netflix?

Netflix has kept House of Money fans on tenterhooks for a while. But in February 2024, the redemptive news finally comes: Berlin has been renewed for a 2nd season. But it will be some time before we get to see the new episodes

Watch the trailer for the Netflix series Berlin here:

Season 1 began filming in October 2022 and took more than 14 months to be released. Production of season 2 is not scheduled to start until 2025. This means that the new episodes will probably not start on Netflix until 2026 at the earliest

Berlin season 2 already has a problem and it’s called House of Money

The heist of the jewels from the Chez Vienot auction house is behind us. At the end of the first season, however, Berlin lost a large part of the loot. He bequeathed a 40 percent(!) share to his latest love Camille (Samantha Siqueiros). And so Berlin and Damian (Tristán Ulloa) met in the final scene in a bullfighting arena with the promise: “We have to start a new raid.”

Of course, season 2 could now follow on from this and bring Berlin’s team together for another heist. However, there is one problem: the chronology of House of Money

(Berlin and Damian are already planning the next heist)

Although the Berlin series is holding back on specific dates, there are some hints (such as the mention of the horror film The Purge) that the spin-off must be set in 2013 at the latest. In House of Money itself, we learned that Berlin was already living in a monastery near Florence with his future wife Tatiana and buddy Palermo five years before the attack on the Central Bank of Madrid (and about 3 years before his death).

If we assume that the central bank heist took place in 2019 – the year of the season 3 release and before the never-mentioned pandemic – then the numerous House of Money flashbacks about Berlin’s wedding and his gold heist plan would be set in 2014. So the spin-off doesn’t have much time before it reaches this point

What we expect from Berlin season 2

Season 2 would therefore focus on a new raid. Italy, Berlin’s soon-to-be residence, would be a possible location. A trip to Singapore would also be possible. Thanks to a banknote message, we know that Berlin wants to meet Camille there on June 23 in a bar called Blue Moon.

The love story between Berlin and Camille is not yet over. At least we know that he marries at least one more woman before meeting Tatiana (wife number 5) a short time later. The prequel began after his separation from wife number 3.

As the series doesn’t have much story time left, season 2 could also shed light on how Berlin and Tatiana got to know each other. Perhaps his best friend Palermo, who has not yet been mentioned in the Berlin series, will finally be seen.

In addition, the two inspectors Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) and Raquel Murillo (Itziar Ituño) still have a score to settle with the team they were unable to catch. And with the exception of leader Berlin, every single member of the gang could be convicted in their next raid. Because by the time of House of Money, they were no longer a part of Berlin’s life.
