The John Wick spin-off Ballerina apparently endangered the reputation of its franchise and had to be almost completely reshot. This is suggested by a report on the film, which also stars Keanu Reeves.
The John Wick series is like an action gem that needs to be protected. In this case, from defilement from its own ranks: According to a new The Wrap report, large parts of the spin-off Ballerina had to be re-shot because they did not meet the expectations of the producers at Lionsgate. Chad Stahelski, the regular director of the Keanu Reeves series, has taken over.
First director of John Wick spin-off no longer came to the set
The report suggests that first Ballerina director Len Wiseman (Die Hard 4.0) severely disappointed the studio’s trust. The reshoots are said to have taken two to three months. That’s as long as regular shooting takes for many films.

The decision to reshoot the film was announced earlier this year when the release of Ballerina was postponed for a full year. At the time, Winston actor Ian McShane hinted to the BBC that the additional work was to protect the franchise.
The new report now reveals the scope of the studio’s decisions in detail. Wiseman, for example, is said to have no longer appeared on the set during the new shooting. Despite all the chaos, many fans will be pleased about Stahelski’s involvement; after all, he is considered the patron of the series and a long-standing action expert.
