The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon goes further and sends Daryl and Carol to Spain in season 3. This change makes the season 2 finale all the more confusing.
The 2nd season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is already over after 6 episodes. This not only brought Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) back together, but also ended the zombie adventure in France. This is not surprising, as it has been known for some time that the spin-off series will make a detour to Spain from season 3. After the season 2 finale, which you can stream on Magenta TV from November 4, many fans should now be confused.
The end of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2 explained: Daryl and Carol don’t go to Spain after all
In the final episode of Season 2, aptly titled Au Revoir Les Enfants (in English: Goodbye Children), The Walking Dead leaves France behind. Since Ash’s plane didn’t have enough room to fly the entire group back to the USA, only Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) was put on the plane to the Commonwealth. Daryl and Carol stay behind and have to find another way to cross the Atlantic. And they hope to find it in Great Britain.
At the end of the season, they enter the Channel Tunnel together with Codron (Romain Levi) and two Scottish tour guides. However, the tunnel is populated by glowing (!) zombies that are overgrown with bioluminescent mushrooms and cause severe hallucinations (!!) when touched. Fortunately, Daryl and Carol manage to get hold of two gas masks. Separated from the others and on their own, the duo disappear into the depths of the tunnel towards England in the final shot of the season.
Wait, where to?
What at first glance appears to be an ordinary cliffhanger with an exciting teaser for the next chapter of the story is actually a confusing ending. Because it has already been officially revealed that Season 3 does not take Carol and Daryl to Great Britain, but to Spain, which is over 1000 kilometers away. But the Eurotunnel is the completely wrong direction to get there.
Without any clue as to the change of location, season 2 leaves us with a lot of questions. Fortunately, a first teaser for the sequel already provides an answer.
What happens in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3?
No specific details about the plot of the next season are known yet. Even though the recent finale itself provides no clues as to how and why Daryl and Carol end up in Spain, the first teaser for season 3 seems to solve the mystery.
Watch the teaser for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 here:
The first teaser already confirms that Daryl and Carol don’t end up in Spain right away at the beginning of the next season, but first make a detour to post-apocalyptic London. There they meet a new character, played by British comedian Stephen Merchant.
But how do Daryl and Carol end up in Spain? The reason for the big detour is not revealed in the teaser. It is possible that the duo did not find what they were looking for and a new opportunity for a trip across the Atlantic presented itself in Spain. The first footage of season 3 also shows a means of transport that could take the characters from Great Britain to Spain: a sailing boat.
For the series itself, season 3 will be a kind of reboot. Carol and Daryl will, of course, continue to pursue the goal of finding a way back to the United States. But with the change of location to the Iberian Peninsula, a completely new story chapter with new characters is being opened, in which the story around the French factions will probably no longer play a role.
