Start: When is The Last of Us Season 2 coming?
The Last of Us Season 2 is one of many series whose production was put on hold for a long time due to the major Hollywood double strike in 2023, which is why it is taking longer than expected. The good news, however, is that Season 2 is now complete. Filming took place in Canada between February 2024 and August 2024.
The seven new episodes are scheduled to premiere in April 2025, as revealed in a new teaser in January. To be considered for the prestigious Emmy Awards, at least six episodes of a series must have been broadcast by the May 31 deadline. The Last of Us Season 2 would therefore have to start on April 20, 2025 at the very latest.
In Germany, the second season of The Last of Us will again be shown on Sky and WOW at the same time as it airs on HBO in the US.

Three new additions to the cast of The Last of Us are particularly exciting for fans of the video game. On the one hand, there is Abby, probably the most important new character in season 2. There was a lot of speculation about the casting of the character in advance, as she is also associated with a huge controversy, so that actress Kaitlyn Dever even had to be specially protected on the set.
A special game surprise is the casting of Jeffrey Wright, who also played the role of militia leader Isaac Dixon (via motion capture) in the original. Equally exciting is the therapist Gail, played by Catherine O’Hara, who does not exist in the video games and was reinvented for the series.
