Booksmart star Kaitlyn Dever plays the influencer Belle Gibson in the series, who fakes cancer. She claims to her community that she can simply cure the disease with healthy food. In doing so, she builds a wellness empire based on lies.

The miniseries is written by Samantha Strauss (The Dry) and based on the nonfiction book The Woman Who Fooled the World by Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano. It details the events surrounding the real-life fake guru Belle Gibson.
