After “John Wick: Chapter 4” created a buzz on the big screen in April, the series prequel “The Continental” now awaits us in September 2023. You can watch the German trailer here:
With “John Wick: Chapter 4”, the franchise around the hitman played by Keanu Reeves has soared into new dimensions. In the next few years, you’ll probably be looking in vain for more impressive action choreography – probably until we get to enjoy “John Wick: Chapter 5”. Perhaps, however, the prequel series “The Continental” can already tie in with the class of “John Wick 4”, which will be released in this country on September 22, 2023 straight on Amazon Prime Video.
After a first teaser trailer for “The Continental” was already released in April, in which not a word was spoken yet, but plenty of weapons were put to use, the German trailer for the series has now also been released, focusing on the origins of the iconic hotel from the “John Wick” films. And the new moving images also make it clear: There will be some serious action here!

Fans of Keanu Reeves will be looking down the tubes at “The Continental,” however, because the series is set in the 1970s. At the center of the action is the young Winston Scott, who was still embodied in the films by Ian McShane, but in the series is now played by Colin Woodell. Here, in crime-ridden and completely brutalized New York, he must face his past and try to find his way in the mysterious underworld of the hotel in order to later ascend the throne of the establishment.
In addition to Colin Woodell, the cast also includes “Braveheart” star Mel Gibson (as Cormac), Katie McGrath (known from “Supergirl”) (as The Adjudicator) and Ayomide Adegun, who embodies the young concierge Charon, playing the younger version of the late Lance Reddick from the films.
The term “series” is almost a bit of a stretch in the case of “The Continental,” as this is a three-parter. Each episode will have a running time of 90 minutes.
