Ticket to Paradise: rom-com starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney as a divorced couple trying to save their daughter from tying the knot.
Film plot and background
Rom-com starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney as a divorced couple who want to save their daughter from tying the knot.
Georgia (Julia Roberts) and David (George Clooney) were married for five years before divorce was to separate them. But because of their daughter Lily (Kaitlyn Dever) together, some meetings between them are unavoidable, but never without venomous comments and other jibes. This is also the case when their daughter suddenly decides to marry her holiday flirt on a holiday in Bali.
They travel in a hurry, causing some friction on the plane already on the way there. Once they arrive, they do everything in their power to save their daughter from the biggest mistake of her life, which they themselves made 25 years ago. To do so, they are even willing to temporarily bury the hatchet between them.
“Ticket to Paradise” – background, cast, cinema release
It’s been over 20 years since Julia Roberts’ last romantic comedy, but now the “Pretty Woman” and “Notting Hill” star can be seen alongside none other than George Clooney, whose partner she already played in “Ocean’s Eleven”. “Ticket to Paradise” was not filmed on the beaches of Bali, but in Queensland, Australia, but the film certainly exudes the feeling of a second chance.
Already with “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again”, director Ol Parker proved his flair for a light-hearted good-mood film with romantic flair. He worked on the script together with Daniel Pipski (“A Teacher”). For Roberts and Clooney it must have been a coincidence, they already realised during the script that the other would be the perfect film partner for the role.
In addition to Roberts and Clooney, the cast is filled with names like Kaitlyn Dever (“Booksmart”), Billie Lourd (“Star Wars” series), Maxime Bouttier (“Meet Me After Sunset”) and Lucas Bravo (“Emily in Paris”). The theatrical release of “Ticket to Paradise” is dated for 15 September 2022.
