“Walking Dead” star shakes up “The Boys” – as big new villain?

After Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, another “Supernatural” star will now also enrich the Amazon hit series “The Boys”: Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Just as “The Boys” season 3 flickered across the screens, work is already beginning on season 4 of the Amazon hit series. Showrunner Eric Kripke shared the start of production with a look at the script for the very first episode of the next season. And as the episode title “Department of Dirty Tricks” reveals, this time it seems to go even deeper into the corruption swamp that not only the Supes company Vought International finds itself in, but also the US government itself:

And as if that wasn’t reason enough for fans to celebrate, there’s super news regarding a new addition: it was announced via the official Twitter account that none other than Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be joining the cast next season. Morgan is not only a fan favourite in the long-running zombie series “The Walking Dead” as the anti-hero Negan, he also starred alongside Jensen Ackles in the horror series “Supernatural”. “The Boys” Season 4 could therefore include a small “Supernatural” reunion:

In fact, it’s been a long-held desire of Kripke’s to get Morgan on his Amazon series, as he let E!News know back in June:

It looks like the scheduling has worked out, which must not have been an easy task for the production companies involved. Morgan has already spoken out about this on Twitter and expressed his excitement:

A warm and perfect welcome was also given by the said Boys themselves:

“The Boys”: What role could Jeffrey Dean Morgan take on?
We’re equally excited and can’t wait to see what role Morgan will step into. Will he possibly play Tek-Knight? Or will he embody an entirely new character? After all, with Firecracker (Valory Curry) and Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) two new Supes are confirmed who are not from the comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

Whether there will be a real clash between Morgan’s still-secret character and Ackles’ Soldier Boy is not yet known. Judging by the finale of the third season, however, that would be very unlikely. However, anything is possible in “The Boys”. Besides, Ackles has already hinted at such things.
