In over 50 years, musician David Bowie recorded over 26 studio albums, always redefining himself. His hits such as “Let’s Dance”, “Space Oddity”, “Heroes” and “Starman” are rightly considered classics of pop and rock music.
At the same time, the artist always offered his audience a new personality to match the sound of his music, whether as Ziggy Stardust or outfits that crossed the boundaries of glam rock. Sadly, the exceptional artist passed away at the age of 69 on 10 January 2016 as a result of cancer.

“Moonage Daydream” – Backgrounds
To approach his creative work and the music of David Bowie in a special way, director Brett Morgen (“Cobain – Montage of Heck”) shot the documentary “Moonage Daydream”. But instead of stringently working through the stages of Bowie’s life, the performances, the music and the influences blur into a cinematic odyssey that kaleidoscopically merges previously unreleased footage into a whole and presents the audience with an unprecedented portrait of a music icon.
That this is in the spirit of David Bowie himself is proven by the fact that the official estate of David Bowie have given their blessing to the project – an honour that has so far not been granted to any other film. In all, you’ll hear a selection of 48 songs by David Bowie, mixed from their original stems.
“Moonage Daydream” – theatrical release
Following its premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2022, where the film was screened out of competition and already wowed audiences there, Bowie fans here at home can also look forward to the special cinema release.
“Moonage Daydream” opens in cinemas here on 15 September 2022 and will also be shown on IMAX screens.
