Friendships among teenagers can be particularly close. But what do you do when the most important person in your life suddenly undergoes a colossal change? In the trailer for “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” we see an amusing way to react:

“My Best Friend’s Exorcism” is set in the late 1980s: Abby (Elsie Fisher) and Gretchen (Amiah Miller) have been best friends since childhood. Ever since Gretchen was the only one to turn up to Abby’s “E.T.” themed party, the two have been inseparable.

Now in their teens, the duo’s lives take a strange turn one night: They experiment with drugs for the first time at a party and then go to a creepy empty cabin in the woods. While there, Gretchen disappears for quite a while. When she finally returns, she is a completely changed girl – always moody and irritable.

Everyone around her says that this behaviour is a normal sign of puberty. But Abby is completely sure that there is something wrong with Gretchen since this trip to the forest. Full of worry, she begins to investigate and soon comes to the conclusion: Her best friend must be possessed by a demon …

PRODUCED BY “HAPPY DEATHDAY” AND “FREAKY” DIRECTOR

My Best Friend’s Exorcism is produced by Christopher Landon, the mastermind behind horror cinema hits such as “Freaky” and “Happy Deathday 1 + 2”. The film, directed by “Killing Eve” and “Penny Dreadful” director Damon Thomas, is based on the novel of the same name by US writer Grady Hendrix (“Horrorstör”). The volume is also available in the original English-language version in this country:

The main roles are played by Elsie Fisher and Amiah Miller. Fisher is known from TV series such as “Castle Rock” and “Barry” and starred in 2022’s “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. Other parts include Chris Lowell from “How I Met Your Father”, Cynthia Evans (“Three Steps to You”), Cathy Ang (“And Just Like That …”), Michael Wayne Foster (“Embattled”), Ashley LeConte Campbell (“Conjuring 3: Under the Spell of the Devil”) plus Clayton Royal Johnson from the Netflix hits “Echoes” and “Stranger Things” (season 4).
