Now Ford is rumoured to be taking on the role. Although Marvel insiders say the actor has not yet been cast, scooper Jeff Sneider has been told by multiple sources that he is Marvel’s first choice for the replacement. As such, this is a rumour that should be taken with a great deal of caution.

As Sneider elaborates on the Hot Mic podcast, there was consideration of announcing Ford's casting at the D23 Expo. However, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy didn't want the announcement to take attention away from Indiana Jones 5. Instead, Marvel chief Kevin Feige introduced the rest of the cast on stage.

The Thunderbolts cast so far at a glance:

  • Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova

In the comics, General Taddeus Ross assembles the Thunderbolts. He is thus the Nick Fury of the anti-Avengers team that will save the world ... or plunge it into chaos - in cinemas from 24 July 2024. We will find out.
