The Devil’s Hour” is coming soon to Amazon Prime Video. The trailer hints that it’s about time travel. Or is it all just an illusion? In any case, Peter Capaldi cuts a great figure here as a potential villain. See for yourself!

For three seasons, Peter Capaldi played the twelfth Doctor in the cult sci-fi series “Doctor Who”. In the cinema, we last saw the Brit as super-villain Gaius Grieves aka The Thinker in DC’s “The Suicide Squad”. In his new series, Capaldi now seems to combine characteristics of both roles to create a time-travelling villain. Or is he really the hero of the series? The cleverly edited trailer for “The Devil’s Hour” allows both conclusions.

“The Devil’s Hour” launches worldwide and exclusively on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service on 28 October 2022.

The first season consists of six episodes directed by Johnny Allan (“The Baker Street Gang”) and Isabelle Sieb (“Virgil”, “Murder on Shetland”). The inventor, screenwriter and producer of the whole thing is Tom Moran. He most recently wrote scripts for the series “The Feed” and “Wild Bill”. Steven Moffat, one of the most successful British TV producers of the last decades, is the executive producer. Under his aegis, hits such as “Sherlock”, “Coupling”, “Dracula” and the “Doctor Who” revival have been created.

In the second lead role alongside Peter Capaldi is Jessica Raine from “Call The Midwife”, “Fortitude” and “Patrick Melrose”. Also mixing in “The Devil’s Hour” are: Nikesh Patel (“Artemis Fowl”), Alex Ferns who can currently be seen in “Star Wars: Andor”, Phil Dunster from “Ted Lasso”, Meera Syal (“Broadchurch”) as well as Barbara Marten (“A Discovery Of Witches”).

THIS IS WHAT “THE DEVIL’S HOUR” IS ABOUT ON AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Peter Capaldi plays a reclusive man named Gideon. Due to his all too obvious interest in various still unsolved murder cases, he makes himself suspicious to the police and is taken into custody. In the course of an interrogation, Gideon suddenly explains to Inspector Lucy Chambers (Jessica Raine) how their very personal dreams and memories are connected.

Chambers is obviously intimidated by his intense manner and wonders how he can know that she wakes up every night at exactly 3:33 a.m. shaken by nightmares. After all, she is sure she has never spoken to Gideon before. Soon after, she has strange visions and bizarre things happen that she can’t make sense of. Gideon claims to be a time traveller. He wants to help Lucy find the answers she has been searching for in vain. Or is it all just the sick game of a psychopathic serial killer?
