With an Instagram video, Henry Cavill has confirmed his return as Superman, thanking his fans and talking big things for the future. But what is to come?
It shouldn’t be a secret by now and via Instagram video Henry Cavill is spilling the beans once again: In the end credits scene of “Black Adam” he appears as Superman. We have already told you how this comeback came about at very short notice.
So now it’s time to look ahead. After all, in the video Cavill not only thanks the fans for their support and patience, but also makes a “promise”: they will be “rewarded” for it. The cameo, he says, is “just a very small taste of all the things to come. “
But what’s coming?
My thought process is you have BlackAdam cameo in Man of Steel 2 and you have HenryCavillSuperman cameo in Black Adam 2 & the catalyst that takes the two from frenemies to enemies is Black Adam going after the Shazamily. Then we have Black Adam vs Superman & Shazam https://t.co/NYQCkLLMji pic.twitter.com/Z6f4hd4Z9A

“MAN OF STEEL 2” AND “BLACK ADAM VS. SUPERMAN” ARE VERY LIKELY
It is suspected that Warner will now go ahead with “Man Of Steel 2” after all, after years of waiting. There are already reports to that effect. The sequel is already being planned in concrete terms. Producer Charles Roven (“Justice League”) is said to be putting out feelers to find someone to write the script. An internal wish list already exists.
Above all, however, Superman is to play an important role in the future as a duo with Black Adam. Dwayne Johnson was instrumental in Cavill’s return, after the British “The Witcher” star had actually been sorted out at Warner and DC beforehand. In this context, Johnson and his production partner Hiram Garcia made it clear that they have big plans for Superman and Black Adam.
These are not to be limited to a “Black Adam vs Superman” film. Rather, they want to “show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are often involved with each other, either on the same or opposite sides,” over a longer narrative. “
THERE ARE PROBLEMS – BUT THEY CAN BE SOLVED
There are still a few small question marks to be made. Last word was that Henry Cavill did not yet have a new contract with Warner. The “Black Adam” cameo came together on such short notice that they were only able to quickly close a deal for just that one appearance. But the video release could be an indication that the situation has changed. It is possible that the necessary talks have been concluded in the past few days. And even if not: we don’t think it will fail because of the contract situation. Cavill and Warner both want to do it, and with Johnson an influential star is still involved who will make sure that his buddy’s demands are met but are not too excessive at the same time.
A little more worrying, on the other hand, might be the fickleness at Warner and DC over all these years. There have been numerous changes of leadership and thus strategy recently. No one can say with certainty what the situation will look like at the top of the group in two or three years, especially since the search for a new DC film boss is still underway after several rejections. So you can’t rule out that in a few years everything will be thrown overboard again at Warner and DC – especially if films don’t perform.
Another Superman appearance by Cavill (whether first in his own film, again with Black Adam, or even as a cameo in a project coming out in 2023) is so very, very likely. How many Superman appearances there will actually be in the end, however, remains to be seen. But for now, all DC fans who have been wishing for Cavill’s comeback as Superman for years can rejoice.
