“Malcolm in the Middle” is not only one of the best sitcoms of all time, but also one of the most uninhibited. As lead actor Frankie Muniz has now announced, Bryan Cranston is said to be working on a revival right now.
The abundance of top-rated sitcoms in the 1990s and early 2000s was truly enormous. “King Of Queens”, “A Terribly Nice Family”, “Frasier”, “Seinfeld” or “Friends” are just a handful of examples. Malcolm in the Middle” can also be counted among the best sitcoms of all time. At the time, the seven-season format revealed a wonderfully black-humoured courage to escalate and pleasantly often avoided keeping an eye on political correctness. If you’re in the mood for the series again: At the moment, all seven seasons are available on Disney+.
“Malcolm in the Middle” lead actor Frankie Muniz has now revealed in a conversation with Fox News that a revival of the series is currently being worked on: “I know Bryan Cranston is really excited about the idea and he’s in the process of writing the script and getting everything going. […] So, it could go ahead. I’d be 100 per cent on it. But I don’t know – we’ll see what happens. “

Frankie Muniz’s statements are to be taken with a grain of salt, of course, although the former child and teen star is also not fooled into stating that the “Malcolm in the Middle” revival is already in the bag. For Bryan Cranston, after his cameo in the finale of the “Breaking Bad” spin-off “Better Call Saul”, it would already be the next return to a former hit format in his career. Nevertheless: It is neither certain whether a reunion with “Malcolm in the Middle” is fixed, nor whether Cranston is actually working on a script.
In case you haven’t heard of “Malcolm in the Middle” yet: The series revolves around the highly gifted Malcolm, who as a teenager has to endure the – well – normal madness of a chaotic lower-middle-class family in America. While Bryan Cranston portrayed his father Hal, Jane Kaczmarek starred as his mother Lois and Christopher Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield and Erik Perl Sullivan as his brothers Francis, Resse and Dewey. The series has won several awards, including the Peaboy Award, seven Emmys and a Grammy.
