Friday the 13th prequel comes from absolute horror master
As Variety reports, streaming service Peacock and studio A24 are teaming up to develop a Friday the 13th series under the name Crystal Lake. Bryan Fuller has been signed on as showrunner, producer and screenwriter, which is already great news.
Fuller was most recently the showrunner for NBC’s Hannibal series with Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen. Even if this production never became a commercial hit, Fuller’s vision over 3 seasons impressed all the more as an unwieldy horror monstrosity with artful nightmare images that burned themselves deeply into the memory.
We can only hope that Fuller will be able to fully exploit his distinctive style from Hannibal for the Friday the 13th series. There are no details about the story yet. All that is certain is that Crystal Lake will delve into Jason Vorhees’ past. What unforgettable horror impressions this will create at best remains to be seen.
