Dora and the Lost City of Gold: In the live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon series of the same name, bright Latina girl Dora must survive her biggest adventure yet: high school.
Plot and background
Some years have passed since Dora explored the jungle with her parents, Boots the monkey and her talking backpack. In the meantime, Dora (Isabela Moner) is a real teenager who, of course, also has to go to school – high school. At school, Dora first has to get her bearings. However, Dora does not let this discourage her. Instead, she curiously shoulders her backpack and looks forward to class.
But at high school, Dora not only makes new friends, she also has to deal with the arrogant class president Sammy (Madeleine Madden). Luckily, grandmother Valerie (Adriana Barraza) always has good advice. When then Dora’s parents (Michael Peña and Eva Longoria) disappear without leaving a trace. Who could be behind it? Boots, her cousin Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg) and her new boyfriend Randy (Nicholas Coombe) help her solve the difficult mystery.
“Dora the Explorer” live-action film – backgrounds
The cartoon series “Dora the Explorer” is one of the biggest hits on the children’s channel Nickelodeon. The adventure for the very young ran from 2000 to 2014 and brings it to a total of 172 episodes, in which the bright Latina girl Dora discovers the jungle, solves tricky puzzles and provides a positive role model for pre-school children. The live-action film adaptation will tell a whole new story for an older audience in 2019.
In the film “Dora the Explorer”, the young explorer is a real teenager – played by young star Isabela Moner (“Transformers: The Last Knight”). The live-action film is directed by James Bobbin, who already produced a wonderful adventure film with “Alice in Wonderland: Behind the Mirrors”. Bobbin has again collaborated with Nicholas Stoller on the screenplay. Stoller had already written the scripts for “The Muppets” and “Muppets Most Wanted” for Bobbin.
The FSK issued an age rating from 6 years. The German theatrical release of “Dora and the Golden City” is on 10 October 2019.
