Fans of fantasy master Guillermo del Toro can rejoice: The Pinocchio adaptation by the Hellboy director will be released on Netflix later this year. Watch the long, visually stunning trailer.
Pinocchio just doesn’t get old. Two film adaptations of Carlo Collodi’s well-known Italian saga, in which a wooden puppet comes to life and wishes for nothing more than to become a real boy, are launching this year. Variant 1 with Tom Hanks is already running on Disney+ * – Pinocchio belongs to the series of 1:1 real remakes of well-known animated classics. (This is an overview of all live-action Disney remakes)
Variant 2 is yet to come and it will clearly outshine Disney’s uninspired copy. Fantasy master Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) brought Pinocchio to life with the extremely elaborate stop-motion technique. The film will be released on Netflix on 24 November.

What is Pinocchio about?
Italy in the 1930s: Old Geppetto has lost his son and gets new company in the form of Pinocchio, a home-made boy. The wooden boy who comes to life under his nose, however, is not the good-natured child he had in mind. Instead, the carved boy causes a lot of trouble with his pranks. As he tries to live up to his father’s expectations, his disobedience sends Pinocchio on a journey that may even lead him to himself in the end.
