Before the big Wetten, dass… return, Thomas Gottschalk is causing a stir. Why was the German TV star not allowed to appear on the RTL show Denn sie wissen nicht, was passiert?
On Saturday, Thomas Gottschalk returns to the ZDF programme as host of another edition of Wetten, dass…? While many fans are eagerly awaiting the new bets, Gottschalk has the rumour mill bubbling. The reason: his absence from the RTL show Denn sie wissen nicht, was passiert.
Together with Günther Jauch and Barbara Schöneberger, Gottschalk usually appears on the RTL show. Last Saturday, however, Schöneberger had to organise two stand-ins at once: Jauch could not take part due to a Corona infection and Gottschalk … due to a surfing course in Malibu?
TV ban: Thomas Gottschalk is not allowed to appear in other shows before Wetten, dass…
Probably no one in the audience bought the TV star’s excuse. That’s why DWDL went looking for clues and found out that, according to his ZDF contract, Gottschalk is not allowed to appear in any other show in the weeks leading up to Wetten, dass…? Gottschalk confirmed the research to the industry magazine:
“ZDF is jealous when they see their best man on RTL two weeks before ‘Wetten, dass…’ and have threatened me with withdrawal of love if they catch me cheating. I totally sympathise with that! “
The new edition of Wetten, dass…? will be broadcast on 19 November 2022 on ZDF. Another one is already confirmed for 2023. When and how it will continue after that has not yet been decided. Gottschalk himself has recently shown himself open to the idea of bringing back the popular TV format beyond the two set editions.
