A Boy Called Christmas: book adaptation about young Nikolas who becomes Father Christmas through a great adventure.

Plot and background

Nowadays all children and adults know Father Christmas. Big-bellied and grey-bearded, he gives presents to all the good children in the world just in time for Christmas. But a long time ago, Nikolas (Henry Lawfull) was a little boy himself. Together with his father Joel (Michiel Huisman) he grows up in a simple wooden hut in Finland. When his father leaves to find the legendary city of Wichtelgrund, Nikolas is supposed to stay with his strict Aunt Carlotta instead.

But the boy is anything but happy at his aunt’s and sets off on his own to the far north. With the help of the cute mouse Miika (voiced by Sascha Grammel), he not only meets an elf, a nasty troll and real elves in the snow, but even flying reindeer! But Mother Wodel (Sally Hawkins) runs a sinister regime in Wichtelgrund.

“The Boy Called Christmas” – background, release, cast

In 2015, the novel of the same name “A Boy Called Christmas” by Matt Haig was published and took the hearts of young and older readers by storm. It was only a matter of time before a film studio expressed interest.
