Since he embodied one of the most popular title characters in the MCU adventure “Eternals”, more and more South Korean films starring Dong-Seok Ma are finally finding their way to Germany. The latest is the thriller “The Roundup”. Here is the trailer:

In “The Roundup”, Detective Seok-Do Ma (Dong-Seok Ma) works for the Major Crimes Unit of the Geumcheon-gu police, a district of the metropolis Seoul. Ma is given the task of bringing home a criminal who has fled to Vietnam but is now detained there. Although there is no extradition agreement with the Vietnamese authorities, the man had turned himself in at the South Korean embassy.

Already on their way to their destination, the experienced cop and his superior Captain Il-Man Jeon (Gwi-Hwa Choi) agree that something can’t be right with the suspect’s sudden willingness to just give up. Sooner than they would like, the duo is to find out that they are right in this assumption.

The film debuted in this country as part of the Fantasy Filmfest presented by FILMSTARTS. On 1 December 2022, “The Roundup” will now be released as video-on-demand in home cinemas, DVD, Blu-ray and limited edition in a media book will follow on 9 December:

By the way: “The Roundup” is the sequel to the action film “The Outlaws”. After its South Korean theatrical release in May 2022, the thriller became the most successful domestic film of the year there in its first week. After 40 days, 12 million people had already bought a ticket in its country of origin, which catapulted the title into the top 10 South Korean productions of all time. If you haven’t seen the previous film yet and want to catch up, you can also find it on Amazon.

“THE ROUNDUP” CONTINUES

As in “The Outlaws”, the main role is once again embodied by Dong-Seok Ma aka Don Lee. Since he played the equally sympathetic and heroic Gilgamesh in Marvel’s “Eternals”, the mime is finally also widely known in our country. In his South Korean homeland, he had already become a superstar years ago with films such as the zombie smash “Train To Busan” or the crime thriller “The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil”.

Sang-Yong Lee was responsible for the production of “The Roundup”. Due to its colossal success, another sequel has already been shot under the renewed direction of Lee. “The Roundup: No Way Out” is scheduled to hit South Korean cinemas in spring 2023.
