This Rain Will Never Stop: Documentary about a young man who experiences the seemingly endless circle of war and peace in Syria and Ukraine on a daily basis.
Plot and background
After the civil war in Syria, 20-year-old Andriy Suleyman’s family is spread all over Europe. Some relatives live in Ukraine, others in Germany, another brother now lives in the Kurdish part of Iraq and one even stayed on the ground. As a Red Cross volunteer, Andriy wants to help where the warring powers clash. Every day he finds himself in the dilemma of whether to flee the war or help those who are innocent victims of the war drive.
When his father suddenly dies, he wants to accompany the body to Syria. On his arduous journey, the power of the military is shown, as well as real inserts of the humanitarian institutions on the ground. Director Alina Gorlova keeps the shots of her documentary in captivating black and white images. “This Rain will never Stop” opens in German cinemas on 24 March 2022.
