The new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. movie looks pretty great. However, there is one thing that is giving the internet no peace: Chris Pratt’s disappointing Mario voice.
The Super Mario Bros. movie is well on its way to becoming one of the cutest animated movies. Both the teaser trailer and the recently released trailer inspire with loving details and references to the video game template. However, one major point of criticism remains: Mario’s voice.
In the original, the adventurous plumber is voiced by Chris Pratt, who became a blockbuster star through film series like Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy. However, hardly anyone is happy with his Mario interpretation. Chris Pratt’s Mario just sounds like Chris Pratt in every other movie.
No enthusiasm for Chris Pratt’s Mario voice
The new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie features several scenes in which Mario says a few of his familiar catchphrases. However, they don’t sound too convincing.
Here you can listen to the famous “Let’s-a-go”:

And here follows Pratt’s version of Mario’s “Yahoo!” shout of joy:

The reactions are very harsh. Pratt puts about as much effort into the recording studio as the ever-demotivated Krusty the Clown in The Simpsons.

Pratts Mario voice drags the whole film down. In the end, everyone else involved has to make up for the miscasting of the main character.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie might be the first instance where instead of one character/actor carrying the film, it will be literally EVERYONE ELSE carrying Chris Pratt. pic.twitter.com/bLwZ69FE6t
