It’s probably been known for a long time that we are big fans of the German comedy series “Die Discounter”. But now there is some pretty good news for all fans of the Amazon Prime Video production: Season 3 is in the works!
The second season of “The Discounters” just started a few weeks ago on Amazon Prime Video and has already been highly praised on FILMSTARTS. For some staff members, the extraordinary comedy production is even one of the best things the German series landscape has produced in recent years. Those who followed the tip, binged through all the episodes and also became a fan now have every reason to rejoice. As the makers of the series announced themselves on Instagram a few days ago, there will be a third season of “Die Discounter”. Now Amazon Prime Video has also confirmed the sequel.
Behind the scenes, Emil and Oskar Belton and Bruno Alexander (scripts, direction, editing) will once again be pulling the strings for the third season of “Die Discounter”. Christian Ulmen (“Jerks”) and Carsten Kleber are also back on board as producers. It is not yet known who will be in front of the camera – according to the funny (and presumably not entirely serious) post on Instagram, it is not sure whether the actors will even want to take the time for further episodes…
Filming will start as early as 2023, but it’s too early to say whether the new episodes of season 3 will be released on Amazon Prime Video in the same year.

THIS IS WHAT “THE DISCOUNTERS” ARE ALL ABOUT
Whoever liked “The Office” (or the German equivalent “Stromberg”) will love “Die Discounter”. The comedy series is also a mockumentary, i.e. a fictional documentary. Unlike “The Office”, “The Discounters” is set in a supermarket and shows the everyday life of the staff, who have to deal with various adversities of the job and of course with the customers. Spoiler: shopping guest stars go in and out of “The Discounters. “
The crew at Kolinski Feinkost in Hamburg-Altona has their hands full. Stocking shelves, cashing up, monitoring customers and getting rid of rats – the supermarket never sleeps. In addition, boss Thorsten (Marc Hosemann), employee Flora (Nura) and Co. also have private worries that keep spilling over into their working lives – whether they like it or not.
