Series fans who let their eye roam away from Netflix, Disney+ and co. will now finally have access to a new series world full of thrills, suspense and family intrigue à la Game of Thrones.
In the flood of new series in 2022, even acclaimed new releases can easily get lost if they are not on the established major streaming services of Netflix, Amazon or Disney+. That said, 1883 is one of the best series of 2022 and if you haven’t heard of the Yellowstone universe by now, it’s time for that to change.
Yellowstone: The series universe, long celebrated in the USA, is only just arriving in Germany
In the United States, the series Yellowstone is now running in its 5th season and is the absolute hit series of the cable channel Paramount Network. The season 4 finale recently set an audience record of 11 million viewers. The ratings have been so good over the years that four series have already been launched.

Yellowstone was created by Taylor Sheridan, who is not only active as an actor (Sons of Anarchy), but also as a screenwriter (Sicario) and director (Wind River). In the mother series, family patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) tries to keep his ranch while modernity does not stop at the rural US state of Montana. His children – ex-soldier Kayce (Luke Grimes), who is married to a Native American woman, Beth (Kelly Reilly), who is as intelligent as she is ruthless, and politically ambitious lawyer Jamie (Wes Bentley) – are not always helpful in this with their respective personal motives.
- The 10-part 1883 finally came to Germany (to Paramount+) in early December as a family prequel and breathless survival drama set in the Wild West.
