ProSieben is airing Martin Scorsese’s thriller hit Shutter Island with Leonardo DiCaprio today. In the gripping masterpiece, even intentional film errors were built in to confuse.
Together, director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio have created some outstanding masterpieces like The Wolf of Wall Street. Another real highlight is the opaque mystery thriller Shutter Island, which is only superficially about the search for a missing patient in a psychiatric clinic on a small island.
Behind it all, the film is above all an abysmal journey of the soul, for which even deliberate mistakes have been sprinkled in. ProSieben airs Shutter Island on 24 February at 10:55 p.m.

Shutter Island is riddled with deliberate mistakes for a reason
Scorsese’s work has had its own entries created on websites such as Moviemistakes.com to draw attention to numerous film mistakes. Disappearing water glasses or coffee spoons from one scene to the next are among the apparent bloopers, of which there are said to be 42 in the film with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Whoever has seen Shutter Island and especially knows the big twist from the finale will understand that these flawed moments are intentional. Together with his regular editor Thelma Schoonmaker, Scorsese has carefully thought through every scene.
The flawed moments, according to Screen Rant are instead tracks to reveal the story. Above all, they serve as a mirror of the psychologically distorted perception of a particular character. We won’t spoil more at this point, in case you haven’t even seen Shutter Island yet.
