13 women are said to have been murdered by the Boston Strangler between 1962 and 1964, but his identity is still disputed. What is certain is that two women played a significant role in making the crime series known. Their true story is told in the new film Boston Strangler. It stars Pirates of the Caribbean star Keira Knightley and The Leftovers actress Carrie Coon. A trailer was released this week for the factual drama, which is coming to Disney+ as early as mid-March.

What is the film about with Pirates of the Caribbean star Keira Knightley?
Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley) works as a reporter for the Record American newspaper in the early 1960s and as such is exposed to the sexism of her era on a daily basis. As a journalist in the lifestyle section, she is not really taken seriously by many colleagues anyway.
But then she notices that three women have been strangled in the weeks before. She is the first to recognise a connection and goes to her boss (Chris Cooper) with it. But at first he is just as dismissive as the police when it comes to further investigations. Only her co-reporter Jean Cole (Carrie Coon) is willing to support Loretta. In the process, however, the two are forced to take private risks and may even have to uncover corruption.
