One of the highlights in director David Cronenberg’s filmography is The Lovebirds. The film about two twin brothers who work as surgeons and slowly lose themselves in abysses, shines above all through the brilliantly played double role of Jeremy Irons.
In April, a series will be released on Amazon Prime that reinterprets Cronenberg’s classic with a female twist. This time Rachel Weisz is in the lead twin role. Now you can watch a first Dead Ringers teaser.

Dead Ringers series from Amazon should once again take you into deep chasms
In the plot of the Cronenberg film, which is also called Dead Ringers in the original, identical twins Beverly and Elliot Mantle are celebrated gynaecologists who share patients not only professionally. The more confident Elliot always lets the shyer Beverly stand in for him when it comes to sex. When the latter falls in love with film diva Claire (Geneviève Bujold), the chaos between the twins takes its course.
The first teaser for the Amazon series based on the Cronenberg model already shows Rachel Weisz in the dual role of the twins. You can probably also expect disturbing abysses and oppressive horror in the new edition. Dead Ringers will be released on 21 April as a subscription on Amazon Prime.
