Fans don’t have to worry about the Netflix series Outer Banks for now. Season 4 is coming and there are first details about the story as well. But when is it coming to Netflix?

Outer Banks season 3 is at number 2 in the Netflix top 10 at the time of this writing, just behind Too Hot To Handle Germany. Globally, the mix of teen drama and mystery adventure has attracted a large audience. Because while other series are jittery about a renewal at Netflix, the future of the OBX crew has already been secured.

Netflix has already ordered season 4 of Outer Banks before the start of season 3. So much relief at the beginning must be.

Season 4 sets up the hunt for Blackbeard’s treasure

In season 3, the Pogues (John B, Sarah, Kiara, Cleo and Co.) land on a deserted island. But they can’t enjoy the idyll for long. Ward and Rafe want revenge and in the end that is not their only problem. Later on, Sara and John B. in particular have to accept tearful losses. In the finale, the group meets a mysterious man who claims incredible things: he wants to know details about the last voyage of the legendary pirate Blackbeard. And there is usually treasure in the cargo of a pirate ship.

Blackbeard, also known as Edward Teach, sailed the seas in the early 18th century and made an impression with a striking exterior. This predestined the legendary pirate for appearances in film and television.

Ian McShane played him in Pirates of the Caribbean – Stranger Tides, Hugh Jackman took on the role in Pan, Ray Stevenson donned the pirate costume in two seasons of Black Sails and most recently Taika Waititi played Blackbeard in the series Our Flag Means Death.

Blackbeard’s lost treasure is a popular legend

One legend of Blackbeard’s lost treasure is that he buried it on a group of islands in Maine gold (Seacoastonline ). Other stories speculate that treasure is hidden in the wreck of his last ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, which was sunk off the coast of North Carolina (Source: Smithsonian ). As Forbes notes, the latter is obvious, geographically that is. The Outer Banks, after all, are a group of islands off the coast of North Carolina.
