In the USA, the new season Grey’s Anatomy has long since started and has made radical changes in season 19. With a customary six-month delay, the new episodes are now finally coming to us. Disney+ has announced the German launch in a month’s time.
Grey’s Anatomy: Season 19 starts in April on Disney+ and ProSieben
The start of the 19th season of Grey’s Anatomy on Disney+ falls on Monday, 17 April 2023. As before, we will get to see one episode per week on the streaming service. The TV broadcast will follow one week later on ProSieben. If the series sticks to its current schedule, JoynPLUS subscribers should also experience the start of season 19 on 17 April. You can currently stream all previous seasons of Grey’s Anatomy on Disney+.
What makes the 19th season of Grey’s Anatomy so special?
Grey’s Anatomy gains a lot of new additions to the cast in season 19, as a whole slew of new young interns now have to prove themselves as trainees at Grey-Sloan Hospital. And Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) job is to train them, while the old squad has its own problems to deal with after the hospital almost went under at the end of season 18.
The season 19 opener of Grey’s Anatomy has a few surprises in store. The biggest change, however, awaits series fans in episode 7. (Warning, spoilers for season 19 follow.)
Whoever has been following the news from the USA has, of course, long known that a Grey’s Anatomy upheaval is taking place in season 19. Because in the new season Grey’s Anatomy loses its main character Meredith. Actress Ellen Pompeo is leaving the series. Guest appearances are not ruled out afterwards, but without her as leader, the staff and the entire series will have to reorganise themselves.
