Hagrid actor Robbie Coltrane passed away in the autumn of 2022, and his Harry Potter co-star Tom Felton now put some very emotional lines on paper about his co-star.
Robbie Coltrane’s death was a loss for every film fan, but especially for the Harry Potter community. The Hagrid actor played his character with incredible warmth and extreme acting sensitivity. Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton now remembered his colleague, who always took a special role on the Wizarding World film sets.
Harry Potter star: Hagrid actor Coltrane was both adult and child
As Felton writes in an article for E! News the chasm between child actors and veteran acting greats was sometimes difficult to bridge in the early Harry Potter days. Except for Coltrane. Adults paid him respect because of his immense wealth of experience in everything from engineering to geography, says Felton. But he was also loved by the kids.
” He had more nonsense in his head than a room full of Slytherins. He could clown around with all of us. [Robbie Coltrane] had the brain of an adult but the heart of a child. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t professional. […] We learned our craft by watching him. “
Many of his Harry Potter colleagues remembered the Scottish actor after his death. Coltrane was a celebrated performer long before his Harry Potter role, appearing in the James Bond series and the comedy series Blackadder, among others.
