The Continental tells the prequel to John Wick with popular characters from the series

The official plot description of the series is as follows:

“Told from the perspective of the hotel manager, a young Winston Scott (Colin Woodell) is dragged through 1975 New York City to confront a past he thought he had left behind. In an attempt to seize control of the iconic hotel that serves as a meeting place for the planet’s most dangerous criminals, Winston blazes a deadly trail through the mysterious underworld of New York. “

Unlike the John Wick films, the series will also take on real historical events. Among them is the rise of the Italian-American mafia in a wide variety of industries, which reached its peak in the 1970s.

Winston from the John Wick films is the main character this time

The cast of The Continental includes Colin Woodell in the role played by Ian McShane in the films, as well as Mel Gibson, Deadwood and Sons of Anarchy star Ray McKinnon, and Jessica Allain from the last Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. Ayomide Adegun will take on the role of young Charon, who was portrayed in the films by the recently deceased actor Lance Reddick.

What is the Continental?

If you’re not up to speed on Wick mythology, the hotel is explained like this: imagine a Best Western or Ibis hotel, but only for organised crime figures. The Continental, in fact, is a worldwide hotel chain, independent of the High Table, whose branches serve as neutral ground for the criminals. In the four films we have seen Continentals in Rome, Osaka, Casablanca and, of course, New York.

There are strict rules in the hotels: Business is forbidden on their premises and this especially means carrying out contract killings. That is why the Continental also serves as a shelter, which can be bought with a drink at the bar or the reservation of a room. Payment is made with the gold coins that serve as the currency of the underworld in the John Wick films.
